Exposure/Position: Sunny or full shade (very good in shade), any moist or normal soil, exposed, inland or coastal.

Soil: Use well-draining acidic to neutral moist soil.

Moisture: Medium. Once it is established, this plant is likely to only require watering during drier periods.

Habit: Holly hedges plants have a slow growth rate of approximately 10-15cm each year. They will create a thick, decorative display reaching a height of up to 4m.

Foliage: Evergreen. Always in leaf throughout the year. It won't lose all its leaves at any one time.

Maintenance: Low. Trim annually to maintain size and shape. Prune hollies according to your requirements. They respond well to cutting back and can be trimmed into formal shapes and hedges, or left more free-form. Pruning should be done in late summer, before the new growth becomes woody.

Feed: Regularly once a fortnight with a balanced fertilizer between May to October (link here to sundries and options)
